Budgets & Pricing
Dorah helps you move seamlessly from creative exploration to financial clarity.
By capturing pricing information at every stage — from early ideas to final orders — your projects stay aligned, informed, and calm from concept to completion.
Understanding Budgets in Dorah
Your project’s financial flow begins the moment you start adding items.
Every image, supplier link, or material choice can carry indicative pricing, helping you forecast costs long before the procurement stage.
Dorah’s Item List automatically calculates running totals as you build, allowing you to:
Compare initial estimates with confirmed trade pricing
Identify where spend is concentrated by category
Track changes over time for complete transparency
Budgeting becomes less about numbers — and more about awareness.
Early-Stage Costing
In the creative phase, enter retail or estimated pricing on each item.
This gives a clear direction of spend even before formal quotations.
You can:
Add prices manually.
Use the list total to understand approximate budget requirements
Share non-priced visual boards with clients while keeping internal totals private
This early costing helps you guide conversations with clarity and confidence.
Updating with Trade/Cost Pricing
Once quotations are received, update each item’s Price and Status:
Switch status from Quoted to Approved.
Replace retail price with confirmed price.
Add any relevant supplier discounts or delivery costs.
Be sure to update status marker to ordered and real pricing, this way you can see at a glance the final price.
Currency & Conversion
All pricing is stored in GBP (£) by default but can be entered in any currency field. You can change your project currency in settings. Dorah currently supports € and US$
Exporting Budget Data
You can export your full project budget as:
PDF — for a concise summary with totals
CSV / Excel — for in-depth analysis or accounting upload
Live Link — to share a read-only, real-time view with collaborators
Toggle optional columns (supplier, category, pricing, totals) for control over what each recipient sees.
Best Practice
Enter retail pricing early — it helps forecast budgets with realism.
Replace estimates with trade/cost pricing as quotes arrive.
Keep category budgets visible — they reveal trends and imbalances early.
