Category Boards & Moodboards
Category Boards and Moodboards are the visual heart of every Dorah project.
They bring together the creative story, the details that define it, and the tools that carry it through to procurement.
Understanding Category Boards
Category Boards organise your project into clear areas — for example Guest Cabins, Serviceware, or Crew Quarters.
They act as containers for your Moodboards, files, and notes, helping you view each space or element of the project at a glance.
Within each Category Board you can:
Create multiple Moodboards
Upload or drag-and-drop images
Add supplier links, notes, or specifications
Comment and collaborate with your team in real time
Boards can be viewed in Grid or Full-Width mode depending on your preference. [ dorah canvas is coming soon ]
Creating a New Category Board
Open your project and click Manage Boards.
Select New Category Board and give it a descriptive name.
Choose your layout — Grid or Full-Width.
Add images, notes, and links as your creative direction develops.
Save — your new board will appear immediately in your project overview.
You can create as many boards as you like and reorder them at any time.
Working with Moodboards
Moodboards live inside Category Boards and are where ideas come to life visually.
Use them to refine palettes, compare materials, and present direction to clients.
On each Moodboard you can:
Upload images from your device, or add url links or via the chrome extension ‘Curate by dorah’
Rearrange grid layouts with simple drag-and-drop
Click any image to open its Notes Panel, where you can:
Add descriptions or supplier details
Add to your Item List directly [ a url must be present before you can add to the item list ]
Leave comments or replies
Tip: Label each Moodboard clearly (e.g. Guest Cabin Concept A or Dining Table Options) to keep your workspace intuitive.
Collaboration on Boards
Everyone working on the same project sees updates instantly.
Use @mentions to notify teammates when you need input or approval.
Admins can lock boards when selections are finalised to maintain version control.
Clients will only see comments when they are directly tagged into the comment section.
Exporting Moodboards
You can export or share your Moodboards in several ways:
Live Link – for presentations or supplier review (read-only view)
PDF Export – for downloadable presentations [ coming soon ]
When sharing externally, only the visuals and notes you choose are visible — internal comments and item data remain private.
Locking Boards
When an area moves into production or orders are placed, lock the Category Board.
Locked boards become read-only for everyone except the Account Holder and Admins, ensuring approved visuals remain unchanged.
To unlock, simply toggle Unlock Board from the board menu.
Best Practice
Keep one board per space or theme to maintain clarity.
Use naming conventions consistently across projects.
Add item data directly from images to streamline procurement.
Lock completed boards to protect final selections.
Use Live Links for client presentations instead of sending raw files.
